The Nitrogen cycle is simply a series of processes where Nitrogen and its compounds are mixed in the system and in living organisms, which also include decomposition. The most important parts of the cycle are the bacteria. They help nitrogen change between states. Now that we know what we are talking about, lets begin the actual cycle!
The first step is a little something called Fixation. This is where plants create nitrogen by bacteria changing ammonium into nitrogen. After that, Nitrification occurs. This is where bacteria get ammonium into nitrates and then the plants absorb it. Then Assimilation happens, where the plant absorbs it through the soil and it can then create chlorophyll;, amino acids, and nucleic acids.But then, Ammonification happens and that's the decaying process. This is where the fungi and decomposers turns the nitrogen back into ammonium so it can go back into the cycle. So then, Dentrification occurs and that's where extra nitrogen in the soil gets put back into the air.
Some things about nitrogen that you probably didn't know about, is that 3% of our body weight is nitrogen. It is used for creating explosions. Unfortunately, nitrogen is not part of the recipe for Meth; sorry all you Breaking Bad fans.
